It is possible to look younger. Even though Ponce De León didn't find the fountain of youth, doesn't mean you can't turn back the clock.
There are a number of lifestyle changes that can help keep you looking younger.
Here are 12 things you can do that will make you appear much younger.
1) Do things that help you relieve stress. Reducing stress makes you feel relaxed, and the more relaxed you are the younger you appear.
Try things like meditation, reflexology, exercise, even writing.
2) Elevate your head when resting. Elevating your head each morning before arising, helps to eliminate excess fluid from the face, and will help you look younger.
Gravity helps prevent fluids from accumulating around your eyes which will help make you appear younger.
3) Increase your intake of Vitamin C. Studies have shown that individuals who consume large amounts of Vitamin C in their diets had fewer wrinkles than those consuming lesser amounts.
Vitamin C assists with the production of collagen, which helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
4) Drink lots of water. Avoid soft drinks, as they contain large amounts of sodium, which cause you to retain water.
Strive to drink eight glasses per day.
5) Exercise regularly. By performing regular exercise, which includes aerobic exercise and some kind of weight training, you will look younger.
6) Get plenty of sleep. Not only does plenty of sleep revitalize your body, it energizes it as well.
Inadequate amounts of sleep can cause dark circles under the eyes, causing you to look older.
7) Reduce levels of refined sugar. Sugar causes inflammation, and increased levels of it may cause heart disease and weight gain, while making you appear older.
8) Moisturize your skin. Dry skin may make you appear older than you are. Apply it to numerous areas on your body not just your hands and face.
Moisturizers are not just for women only! You men may look younger too by using a moisturizer.
9) Fall in love. Even if you're not in love, just thinking about a past love may make you glow.
Try this meditation exercise: set aside 20 minutes or so and think about a past memory of a loved one.
Put on some music that takes you back to that time from your past, such as your favorite song.
10) Move gracefully. If your movements aren't smooth, you will look old no matter how good you look.
Consider taking up Feldenkrais, a type of movement therapy that promotes flexibility, improves balance, and reduces tension.
11) Don't make a 'spectacle' of yourself. Instead of wearing eyeglasses, choose contact lenses instead. You will look younger.
12) Eliminate excess water weight. If you retain water, you will appear heavier. Consider adding diuretic herbs to your diet such as:
Dandelion
Uva ursi
Stinging nettle
Yarrow
Blessed thistle
Horsetail
A desire to turn back the clock is probably a sentiment most of us share.
