"Home Remedies for Snoring - 10 Ways You Can Stop It - Part 2"

sleepingHome remedies for snoring, continued...

6. Elevate the Head of Your Bed - Another home remedy for snoring that may help is to elevate the head of your bed. By raising your bed you may take some of the pressure off of the airways to the lungs, making breathing easier.

In some cases, just adding an extra pillow will do the trick. Alternatively, you can put blocks under your bedposts instead.

7. Try Various Herbal or Supplemental Remedies - There are several herbal home remedies for snoring that are known to be useful for this problem.

Ginger is quite effective, as it causes increased secretion of saliva, which coats the throat. When it is mixed with honey, it is a good throat lubricant.

A mixture that is thought to be an effective remedy for snoring are the supplements immature bitter orange, bromelain, and coenzyme Q10. When these herbs are taken together, they help to clear the sinus passages, allowing maximum airflow.

Immature bitter orange contains synephrine, which is thought to help clear congestion of the nasal passages.

8. Don't Eat a Heavy Meal before Bedtime - One solution for your snoring problem might be to avoid eating a heavy meal or snack before going to bed. By eating just before bedtime, you give your body less time to digest the food.

As a result, the food may sit in your stomach, causing extra pressure on your diaphragm. This pressure is what causes you to snore. Try to schedule your meal times 3 to 4 hours before going to bed, as this will allow your food to begin the digestive process.

sleeping9. Practice Tongue Training Exercises - Another effective snoring remedy is tongue training.

Your tongue's position while sleeping influences the amount of air entering your throat. By performing exercises with the tongue, you strengthen the muscles of the throat that cause snoring.

Some sample exercises would be sticking the tongue out repeatedly, or pressing and holding your tongue to the roof of your mouth, or moving your tongue to the rear of your mouth and holding. Try to do three sets of 15 repetitions each, performing each motion at least five seconds.

10. Try a Nasal Strip - The last of my snoring home remedies I will mention is the nasal strip. The nasal strips function to open up the nasal passages, allowing more air to enter into the throat, and may reduce snoring.

Home remedies for snoring can go a long way in ending the discomfort for those that snore and also those that have to listen to the snoring.

However, snoring can be caused by a more serious problem, sleep apnea. If you suspect that you have sleep apnea, you should see your physician.
